Which dog treats did dog owners choose as their favourite?

To make it easy for all you dog lovers out there, we’ve put together this handy guide on the nations favourite dog treat. You can try out the most popular options or order selection boxes to see what your dog enjoys most

Pigs Ears

16% of our survey said that pigs' ears were their dog’s favourite treat! For those of you who’ve ordered them in the past, this will come as no surprise. Pigs' ears have been one of our best sellers, are high in protein and long lasting, ensuring less aggressive chewers enjoy them over several days.

Rabbit Ears

Perhaps a common theme here with air dried ears, as 14% of respondents said that rabbit ears were their dogs’ favourite treat. Rabbit ears act as a natural dewormer, removing potential parasites from the digestive system and supporting dogs with sensitive stomachs. They are also great for dental health and low in fat, making them a very healthy option for your pup.

Beef Chews

10% of our survey said their dog opts for a beefy chew. With a huge range of beef chews available, finding a suitable option for your dog is an easy task. Some of our favourite beef chews include:

  • Beef paddywack
  • Beef tripe sticks
  • Beef trachea
  • Beef collagen
  • Bull’s pizzle

Whilst beef flavoured treats tend to have a higher fat content, many of our chews are still low fat and high protein, going through our air-drying process to retain flavour, reduce moisture, whilst remaining 100% natural.

Chicken Feet

8% of surveyed dog owners say their dog enjoys chicken feet the most! Chicken feet are 100% natural, high in collagen and rich in nutrients. This supports dogs with their overall health, joint health and their skin and coat quality. Chicken feet are also a great choice for puppies, suitable for dogs aged over 12 weeks.

Sausages

Natural sausages for dogs are fast becoming a favourite, retaining all their great flavour. Whilst sausages are not a single ingredient treat, they are still grain free and easily digestible, as well as being easy to break into smaller pieces and use for training rewards. With the option of both jumbo and mini sausages, these were also voted the favourite treat by 8% of dog owners in our survey.

Which treats do the UK’s dogs despise?

Whilst dogs often seem very eager to gobble down their treats, there are some options which are not as popular among our four-legged friends. With 93% of people surveyed also saying they would avoid highly processed treats, below are some of the least favourite treats among dog owners.

Processed Treats

Processed dog treats are often bulk produced, including grains and starches, as well as rendered meat and additives. This can make processed treats difficult for dogs to digest and cause potential health issues such as allergic reactions or weight gain. 0% of dog owners chose processed treats as their dog’s favourite.

Biscuits

Doggy biscuits are a popular choice as training motivators and for dental health, however, they also were chosen by 0% to be their dog’s favourites. When using biscuits for dogs, make sure to carefully check ingredients, ensuring there aren’t any harmful additives, and you do not overfeed your dog.

Rawhide

It is becoming more well known that rawhide is not considered safe for dogs. It’s good to know the owners we surveyed are also aware of this, with 0% choosing rawhide treats as a favourite. Rawhide is largely indigestible and can cause both choking hazards and dental damage, potentially fracturing teeth and being tough on dog’s mouth and gums. Natural treats are a safe alternative, being easy to digest and supporting dogs' dental health.

Why dogs prefer natural dog treats

Giving your dog healthy, natural treats is important to maintain their energy levels, support joint and dental health and keep your dog happy. Natural treats are often single ingredient, supporting digestion and being suitable for dogs with allergies.

One of the reasons dogs tend to prefer natural treats is the fantastic smell and taste. With minimal processed and artificial ingredients, the smell is much stronger, and our air-drying process maintains the flavour and nutrients of the treat.
